So when someone on the internet tries to sell you a 5 AM morning routine involving journaling, a gratitude practice, and a “nourishing sunrise smoothie”… it hits like a bad joke.
Here’s what I know to be true: you don’t need a perfect morning. You need a functional one. And functional, for a work-at-home solo mom with an actual paycheck on the line, looks completely different from what the wellness world wants you to believe.

What a Realistic WFH Solo Mom Morning Looks Like
Spoiler: it actually starts the night before.
The night before (your future self will thank you):
- Pack the backpacks and lunch boxes
- Check the calendar — activities, pickup times, anything that changes the day’s rhythm

- Pick outfits for everyone — yes, including yours

Then, the morning:
Before the kids wake up — Set your alarm 10 minutes before theirs. Not to work out. Not to scroll. Just to exist quietly.
